About SouthOakville.ca

An independent guide to the part of Oakville south of the QEW, built on published public data and written to answer one question about each place in it: would you want to live here, and what should you know before you do?

What this site is

A reference for people deciding about South Oakville — moving here, staying here, or working out which of seven quite different areas suits them. It covers neighbourhoods, schools, the waterfront, parks, transport, development, heritage and renovation, and it is built to stay useful for years rather than to chase news.

Everything factual comes from a published public source, named on the page that uses it and listed in full on our data page.

What it is not

SouthOakville.ca is an independent guide. We are not a real estate brokerage, we do not list or sell property, and we publish no property listings, prices or sales data.

There are no property listings here, no prices, no sold or leased data, no market statistics, and no lead capture. If you are looking for any of those, this is the wrong site, deliberately.

It is also not a news publication. A small development reference layer tracks active planning applications from the Town’s own records, and that is the extent of it.

The editorial rules

  1. Every fact traces to a published source. If we cannot point to one, it does not go on the page.
  2. No invented boundaries presented as official. The Town publishes no reusable neighbourhood boundaries, so ours are clearly labelled as editorial on every page that uses them, and their exact census-area membership is published.
  3. No rankings. No school scores, no “best neighbourhood” lists, no composite indices. Where EQAO publishes a percentage we reproduce it; we do not build a league table on top of it.
  4. No licence or URL is ever guessed. Where a publisher documents neither, we credit them and say the licence is not documented.
  5. Errors are disclosed, not silently patched. Known data-quality problems are listed on the data page.
  6. No restricted real-estate data, ever. The pipeline that builds this site names every published field explicitly, and a test fails the build if anything listing-derived appears.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, we want to know, and we would rather hear about it with the source that shows it. Write to hello@southoakville.ca or use the contact page.
