Development in South Oakville

279 active planning applications sit on file with the Town of Oakville inside our coverage area, together proposing 54,171 residential units across the 167 files that state a number.

This is a reference layer, not a news feed. It reports what the Town publishes in its own planning application records — file number, type, status, milestone dates and proposed unit counts — and nothing that is not in those records. We do not summarise council debates, repeat news coverage or speculate about what will be approved.

Status changes without notice. Anything here that matters to a decision should be confirmed against the Town’s active development applications page, which is the authoritative record and carries the full file, drawings and reports.

The largest proposals

Ranked by proposed unit count as stated in the Town’s record. A proposal is not an approval, and unit counts routinely change between application and decision.

Where the pressure is

Application counts track the Town’s designated growth areas closely — which is what designating a growth area is meant to do.

Designated growth areas

The Livable Oakville Plan designates specific areas for intensification. Five fall inside South Oakville, and they are where the tallest and densest proposals concentrate. These are official Town designations, unlike our neighbourhood coverage areas.

Read the Town’s official plan pages for what designation actually permits in each.
