Living in Clearview

Clearview is the most coherent area on this site, because most of it was laid out at once. It reads as a single planned community rather than an accumulation of eras: consistent housing, a connected internal road network, and parks distributed deliberately rather than left over.

It sits at the town's eastern edge against Winston Churchill Boulevard, which makes it as much a Mississauga-border community as an Oakville one in practical terms — many residents look east for shopping and west for schools.

It is quieter and newer-feeling than anywhere else in South Oakville, with correspondingly less character variation from street to street.

Largely detached and semi-detached housing from the 1980s and 1990s, on regular lots, with a consistent architectural vocabulary across much of the area.

Housing stock is young by South Oakville standards, which usually means fewer of the structural surprises common in the older areas to the west, and less scope for heritage constraints.

Clearview Park and Clearview Woods are the main open spaces, supported by a network of neighbourhood parks and connecting paths built into the original plan.
